Domestic Arizona 2018-2019
The Global Experiential Learning - Domestic Program seeks to give University of Arizona students opportunities to discover the unique history of the Tucson as well as around Arizona. GEL Domestic explores the history of issues in the United States and encourages students to think critically about how historical events relate to present day topics.
This program provides experiences that allow students to step outside of their comfort zone or wouldn't do on their own. Students will have the opportunity to learn through experience and outside of the classroom. Students are encouraged to take advantage of GEL Domestic's subsidized/free experiences to learn about the colorful culture in America as well as develop a desire to engage with the community outside of the University of Arizona.

GEL is collaborating with the Native American Students Affairs (NASA) and would like to educate students on the land and culture of Tohono O'Odham people and acknowledge the university is on ancestral land and interact with the reservation community. The event will begin by cleaning graves as people are paying respects to passed relatives, followed by presentations on the history of the mission and land acknowledgment. Departure is at 7:30am from UofA and we will be departing San Xavier around 2:00pm.
